Teacher in the Wayland (Massachusetts) Public School District since 1997
Classroom teacher for Grades 3 and currently Grade 5
Math curriculum development for district-wide checkpoint assessments. These "tests" were designed and given at each of Wayland's three elementary schools to coordinate data gathering across buildings.
Design and instruct training courses for teachers in alternative algorithms. An algorithms is a systematic method for solving a problem that can be used repetitively with success. This course(which I still offer to teachers) looks at alternatives for the four basic operations. There are other ways to add, subtract, multiply and divide beside the methods historically taught in the United States.
Five summer's experience at the Pegasus Summer Enrichment Program in Wayland, MA. Pegasus is a summer program that is designed to meet the needs of all students including students with special needs. The focus is to give campers choices of activities in small groups.
